Dealing with the Unruly
Intro
A. THE TRANSGRESSION (2 Thess. 3:6, 11).
1. “unruly” –
2. The reason behind their unruly conduct.
3. The manifestation of their unruly conduct (2 Thess. 3:11).
a. They quit their jobs and stopped working (2 Thess. 3:11).
b. they became busybodies (2 Thess. 3:11).
B. THE REMEDY.
1. Command (2 Thess. 3:10, 12).
a. Work not, eat not.
b. Work in a quiet fashion.
c. Eat your own bread.
2. Exhortation: follow our example (2 Thess. 3:7-9).
a. Their obligation (2 Thess. 3:7).
b. The apostles’ disciplined conduct among them (2 Thess. 3:7).
3. We had the right but wanted to be a model (2 Thess. 3:9).
C. THE BIBLICAL VIEW OF LABOR
1. Work is not the result of the curse (Gen. 2:15).
2. Work reflects the character of God.
3. Work is a means for our own blessing.
4. Work is a means of blessing others.
5. Be a diligent worker. Prov. 12, 27, 24; 10:4; 13:4; 21:5.
6. Work as unto Christ. Col. 3:17, 23-24; 1 Cor. 10:13
