Mike Southerland |
|
Mike Southerland was raised in a Christian home and professed faith in Christ at age five. His parents were Southern Baptist when he was born and moved around to several credo-baptist denominations and movements throughout his childhood. When Mike left home, his parents were in the charismatic, (Word of Faith) movement. Though they continued to explore, Mike stayed in the charismatic movement until rescued from it by the grace of God in 2005. Through a couple of good friends, and two old Reformed books (A.W. Pink’s “The Sovereignty of God” and Ralph Erskine’s “Gospel Sonnets”) God revealed to Mike the glorious truths of the Doctrines of Grace. Mike was born and raised in the Dallas, Texas area and met his wife, Sheri, in his freshman year of high school in 1983. They married in 1990 and God has blessed them with nine children, and seven grandchildren. Mike has a BS degree in Computer Science Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington. Mike began attending Northwest Bible Church in 2014 and was installed as an elder in March 2018.
